FS#4208 — New network infrastructure
Scheduled Maintenance Report for Web Cloud
Completed
For three months we are preparing the establishment of
new network infrastructure on P19 for shared hosting.
The goal is to pass on the 10G network
and avoid all the problems of congestion and quality
due to growth. The current infrastructure has 6 years. It is time
to establish a new for ... 6? :)

Update(s):

Date: 2010-09-19 20:15:14 UTC
All the infrastructure has been switched on the new equipments.

Date: 2010-09-19 20:12:01 UTC
We have performed new switching this night.
And even more this Friday night to Saturday.

The power failures should be short enough
in order not to be felt at all.

Date: 2010-09-19 20:09:51 UTC
done.

We may continue the switching of about 10000
of the shared hosting servers to this
new shared network.

here is the schema.

Date: 2010-09-19 20:07:47 UTC
We're going to switch the main vlan of the shared hosting
from 6K to N5. The goal is to put the
new infrastructure at the heart of the shared network switching.

There is a small interruption of a few tens of
seconds to predict.

Date: 2010-09-19 20:04:06 UTC
We physically move one of the two N5 to rewire in
another bay.

1 lost packet... The cluster N5 in VPC (virtual port channel)
works properly in MTU 1500.

Date: 2010-09-19 20:01:31 UTC
The migration continues quietly switch by switch.
In all, we must switch a network of nearly 10,000
servers on the new infrastructure. Interventions
will take several weeks.

Date: 2010-09-19 20:00:44 UTC
We'll switch some switches on some new
ends of the new network.
