We've found the source of the issue. The traffic is back to normal. A large section of traffic towards Telecom Italia and fastweb was impacted between 17:05 and 18:26 CEST.

The cut-off was caused by a configuration issue in an ACL (access-list) on the mil-1-6k router whilst the latter was being upgraded (task #11242). The configuration issue didn't have any impact until today, but was triggered when a new IP range was activated on the OVH backbone.
